WIAW: Wendy Whiner

HEY GUYS!

I'm ready to get my WIAW #13 on.

Lindsay from CotterCrunch explains it best in this post just why I keep
linking up with Jenn each week!

*************************

I wish I had more creative energy on Wednesday nights when I go to write these posts.
But alas, I just got back from class, and my juices are zapped.

So I'm just going to toss some food at you!

 {M}eatloaf {M}onday

{T}urkey {T}aco {T}uesdsay

Which brings me to today:
{W}hy {w}on't the {w}eather get {w}ith it {W}ednesday?

Today I was a little bit of what my mom and my aunt refer to as being a
*Wendy Whiner*

When I woke up the weather was still crummy.
Which put me in a bad mood because I really wanted to walk the girls to school.
I wimped out like a wuss and drove them the entire mile there and back.
It was windy and cold but I knew I really did not want to work-out on the treadmill.
So after a few hours working and writing without whistling
I put on some winter weather gear (wth?) and whipped out 5.3 miles.
Just kidding about whipping them out.
More like I wogged them out.

The only thing that kept me from quitting the run as my quads were screaming at me-
was knowing that today was Round 3 of the Greek Yogurt Taste Test.

Today I tried Contender #3:

Fage Total 2% Honey

Same size as the Athenos.
Let's take a look at the nutritional stats.

Although it has more calories and less protein @12g than Chobani @16g,
it should be noted that the honey is separated in the container so when adding to the
smoothie I didn't need all of the honey.

I can tell why so many of you are Fage fans.
It was extremely thick and creamy.
It made for a DELICIOUS smoothie.
So delicious that I stopped whining for the rest of the day.

Current Standings:

Fage 2%: 9.50
Chobani: 9.50
Athenos: 9.00

Yes...a tie.
The only reason I give the Fage an advantage is because they're a bit cheaper!

Oh.
I also had whitefish for dinner with asparagus spears.
That I forgot to take pictures of.
Oops.

Do sales prices affect your grocery purchasing choices?
Do you ever have Wendy Whiner days?

oh heck, I'm a couponer 100%. Which is Why I kind of prefer Trader Joe's...the stress-free shopping of knowing you simply won't have to face any sale prices or coupons (although there are some products there you can bring a coupon in for...like laughing cow cheeses).

What a Wonderful Whiny and Wild Word Womp you Wove. Way to Write!

Fage is really good stirred into oatmeal. Reaaaaly good.

The answer is yes, I do have Wendy Whiner days. I am a whiner and I'm good at it. I need to get bad at it.

Prices definitely affect my grocery shopping. I haven't purchased much meat at all since the prices went crazy. $3.89 for a pound of 93/7 ground beef? No way.

I told Bud we would be eating less meat and more veggies. I saw avocados for more than $2.00 each today. Not gonna be eating much of them either. My garden had better produce this summer!

I love Fage! I like the 2% over any other. The fat is good for you.

I like FAGE. I love the fuller fate versions, they have lower lactose, better on my gut. haha.
My brothers used to call me Lindsay Whiner, so ya, I've been there.
Cheers to WIAW!

Can I just say that I love your posts? Always so creative and fun to read! I definitely have some wendy whiner days, although on mine I definitely don't run 5.3 miles. I log some awesome couch time though! :-D

Sales definitely effect what I buy, yesterday I bought Dove promises because they were buy 1 get 1 free! hehehe

Greek yogurt is crack to me. I buy the huge containers of it (0% Fage) and then add my own toppings into smaller containers... then I can control how much brown sugar/honey/maple syrup (don't knock it till you've tried it) I need. It is my favorite snack mid-way thru my workday. And the big container is cheaper (and more environmentally friendly) than all those little ones. :-)

And don't worry... the weather isn't cooperating here in Boston, either. Wendy Whiner was in full effect here, too!

I don't pay too much attention to sale prices. I don't look at them in advance or go to a store because it's having a sale or anything. But if I notice a sale while I'm shopping, and I actually like and use the product on sale, I'll buy it.

FINALLY I get to comment Steph! I have been reading blogs on my breaks at work from my phone and for whatever reason my comments NEVER work when I do them from there...stupid blackberry...anyways. I've been missing commenting! I think your food looks fabulous! I just bought some greek yogurt to try because I've NEVER had it before. Is that weird? I know it is. I'm not a huge yogurt person unless it's frozen :) I'm excited to try it though! I hope you have an awesome week!! xoxoxo

Sale prices really don't affect my grocery shopping. I have what items I buy kind of down to a science and if one them happens to be on sale, all the better for me. Sometimes I will buy something comparable if it's on sale at a significantly better price than what I usually pay. And prices do affect my produce shopping probably most of all. I've found buying based on price usually forces you to buy more seasonally.

is it possible to have a Wendy Whiner Week? yeah. i'm having one of those. but, your posts are always a lovely feast for the eyes, so that helps!

i only buy the Chobani at Costco, where it ends up being less than $1 per cup vs. $1.40-ish at the grocery store. i wish the Chobani was organic though. i tried Stoneyfield Farms organic greek yogurt and was SO disappointed. didn't like it at all. boo.

sale prices of foods I already buy make me STOCK UP! or buy it if I wasn't planning on it that week. coupons too. but only for foods i agree with - ya know - the real foods! =)

this post was still super creative! even with your creative juices zapped you still out-create like 99% of blog land. cause you're awesome like that =)

Your foods look delish!!

I wish I could get into greek yogurt, but I have a killer sweet tooth, that craves all the artificial crap in the "traditional" yogurts. You just can't beat the protein in greek yogurt.

Sale prices totally affect my grocery purchases. There are some things I buy no matter what (ie- milk) but many things that I hold out til there's a sale and then I stock up. YAY for saving $$$

I just bought so many strawberries yesterday because they were on massive sale, and I also buy Larabars in bulk when they are marked down to $1 at my local market. I won't buy things that I know I won't eat just because they are on sale, but I do get overly excited when the things I love are on sale. I'm rambling... :)

Christin@purplebirdblog said...

Sale items can entice me sometimes, but there are certain brands/foods I am pretty tried and true to that I'll pay full price for! :)

Hey! I forgot to write you back about Jan! He fights out of a place called The Academy in Provo. It used to be called Throwdown but they just changed the name. I'm going to need you to teach me how to love the fighting world!! I'm going with him to watch some fights on Sat and i'm like...oh boy...here we go again! ;)
P.s. Congrats on quitting your job!!!! How is that going!?!?

Love the meal titles!

I totally have days like that, and I hate when crazy things happen to dampen the mood of the day. Usually if I can fit in a good workout via outdoors or in it helps.

First, thank you for your reallllly sweet comment yesterday. Yours might have been my favorite. Don't tell anyone :)

I always look at prices! Story time: a few weeks ago Jonathan and I woke up and he wanted steak and eggs but we had neither so went to the store. He went to get the meat and I went to get the eggs and some creamer when I what did I happen to walk past? 10 for $10 Chobani. Score. When J met back up with me I was balancing eggs, 10 Chobani's, and some creamer in my arms. I was quite a sight. I love reading about your comparisons! I like Fage, too, but Chobani is definitely my favorite.

Sales do affect what I buy...but only if it's foods I normally eat. I don't buy Cap't Crunch cereal just because it's on sale. :-)

Maria said...

I wish I could say that price affects what I buy but I'm stuck in a habit of buying the same things over and over and don't really pay attention to what they cost.

Bad, I know.

I definitely have Wendy Whiner days but I usually snap out of it because I start annoying myself!

oliepants said...

Yes. If it weren't for sales, I would not have tried all the different coconut and almond milks. I love when Greek yogurt goes on sale. It gets super pricey so I really have to be conscious. :)

I love WIAW!!! I was too busy this wednesday to do a post, but I love reading others :)

I do love fage! I am horrible at looking at prices when I grocery shop, I just get what we need..

Lisa said...

I'm a horrible sales shopper---however, if I'm planning to buy something and notice another brand of the same thing is on sale, I'll consider it. Depends on what it is!

I do have whiny days...but not as much as I used to. Now I try to let myself wallow for a set amount of time, like 15 minutes, but then I have to move on!

iheartvegetables said...

I Always get Fage 0% because I'm laaaame but I bet the 2% is delish!
