Ramble On

*Sometimes I grow so tired, but I know I've got one thing I got to do...*

Anybody else like Led Zeppelin?
Growing up my dad was a big fan of most classic rock and Jimmy Buffett.
My mom liked country and Michael Bolton and Meatloaf.
I grew up in the 80's and adored Michael Jackson and Pat Benatar.
I played the saxophone and the oboe so I know my fair share of classical music.
My angsty teen years occurred in the '90's so I grew to like rock, rap & grunge.
And Alanis. Ohhhhh...Alanis.
I really liked to sing and adored Heart, Jewel, The Judds and Reba. Don't ask.
I was a high school dance team member turned coach so I knew a lot of hip-hop and pop.
I seriously loved to dance in college so club hits were my jam.
I've always had a thing for rimmed glasses so Weezer holds a very special place in my heart.
Then I had kids so Dora and The Wiggles entered my life.
Now I run a lot so I enjoy music with fast beats and even appreciate techno.
It's safe to say that music has an extremely important role in my life.
I'm sorry...what was that?
I'm rambling?
Shoot.
I never do that!
(cough, cough)
Well...nothing to do but to keep ramblin' on!
Here is a list of some of the random thoughts from my world this week:

1. Natalie Would Like to Say Thank You for All Your Sweet Comments

And you'll notice why I asked about the tooth fairy yesterday!

2. I took 3 Days OFF this week.
From exercising, that is.
I always take Mondays & Wednesdays off but due to the
inclement weather on Monday, the kids didn't make it back til Tuesday night so I didn't want to spend my precious time with them in a gym or on the treadmill.
I ran 3 miles tonight so I feel good about that.
I'll get to the gym or do an at-home workout each day of the weekend.
That will still be 4 days this week.
I'm ok with that.

3. Ryan Loves Blogging
The other day I mentioned to him that one of my favorite bloggers, Janae, had completed an entire marathon on the treadmill and with crazy speed too, might I add.
I don't think its a coincidence that that very night he headed off to the gym and ran
12.34 miles.
Not quite a marathon, but not quite the 4 the day he ran before that.
Inspiration at its finest.
He's also always saying things like,
"You should take a picture of this. You should take a picture of that."
Or he'll just pick up the camera and take pictures of this:

Umm...that'd be me stuck in the snow in my neighbor's YARD.  Oops.

4. I Love Blogging

Some of the people I've *met/read/stalked* over the past month are phenomenal people.
It makes me glad to be a part of this little cyber world.
I love that my healthy habits have encouraged and inspired others.
I love being a part of an ongoing tale in someone's life because I truly.do.care.
I love reading about relationships and smiling because I know there's so much love.
I love questioning my own granola.
I love reading running blogs that make me feel like I can accomplish anything.
I love mommy blogs that inspire me to be the best mother I can.
I also love the inspiration I'm getting from other bloggers who highlight raw recipes.

This week, Averie's recipes really came through for me.

Starting off with kale chips that I coated with this sauce and then dehydrated.

Awesome.

And when the daily chocolate cravings come my way, this recipe saves the day.

NOT COMPLETELY RAW---BUT DEFINITELY STILL HIGH RAW

*1.5 cups shredded coconut
*1/4 C. Natural Syrup
(agave would have been technically raw)
*1/2 C. Raw Honey
*3/4 C. Cocoa Powder
*Dash Vanilla Extract (I used coconut extract for fun)
*1/4 c coconut oil

Mine came out looking like this after mixing all the ingredients by hand together in a bowl.
Not necessarily pretty.
Although it looks like poop it reminds me of ALMOND JOYS! (without the almonds....so Mounds I guess?)

*Juice from 2 lemons
*1 1/2 T. Tahini
*1 T. Bragg's Liquid Aminos

Seriously delicious.  Drizzled over:
*Green Leaf Lettuce
*Broccoli
*Carrots
*Sauerkraut
*Peanuts
*Raisins

It was so good that I repeated it for dinner so I could share the joy with Ryan.

5. True Story

Ryan: Headed to the gym.  Should I wear these up or down?
Me: You can't be seriously considering wearing them either way, right?
Ryan: Why wouldn't I?
Me: Well they look pretty hot.
Ryan: Like sexy hot?
Me: Wellllllll.....not exactly.
But if that's the look you're going for, you should wear one up & one down.

And so he did.
I think it's safe to assume he didn't get hit on.

6. I love aprons.

I got one for each kiddo for Christmas.
So far it means they like helping out in the kitchen more often.
Eventually it will mean three more things to trip over in the kitchen.

    7. I've Been Eating A Lot Lately

Making Smoothies.
Eating bananas with Raw Chocolate Coconut Butter
Eating a million salads.
Attempting another raw sushi creation and failing.
Figs galore.
Pineapple and canteloupe are my new best friends.
Did I mention salad?????

8. I've Been Enjoying Life's Simple Pleasures.
Sweet smooches.
Compromises made when one dvd player is broken and it's movie night.
James following me every.single.place.I.go.

I'm sorry.  Have I been rambling?

DO YOU RAMBLE??  Please tell me I'm not the only one!

"I've been this way ten years to the day. Ramble On.
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams." ~Led Zeppelin

What a great post! I love this---the perspectives and thoughts on life and blogging. If it's rambling, then I'm a fan! I think this is one of the best ways to really get to know someone, by just reading about their thoughts...that sometimes seem random!

I'm definitely a rambler...

I wont lie...I haven't heard of half of the things you eat, but all of the pictures look SO tasty!

I love Led Zeppelin! Billy and I were just talking about this a few days ago. And I ramble all the time. Sometimes I get the look from Billy like "You're doing it again." Hahaha. Your food all looks so delicious! I want to come eat at your house everyday. Or at least I need to start making some of the things you make. Yum. And I love aprons, too. My mom has a fabulous collection of aprons that her grandmother made! Love them.
